Melo State of Mind

With the acquirement of Carmelo, NY seems to be in a better state of mind.

Blue Note 2-26-11 Recording

Due to an overwhelming demand from my previous post, I've decided to put up the entire Blue Note performance of the Robert Glasper Experiment ft. Lupe Fiasco and unannounced guests Mos Def and Kanye West. The show was truly a blessing and a reminder to all music fans that real music still lives. The 2 audio clips and photos I posted have surfaced all over the web and been mentioned in sites such as Rollingstone, Billboard, Complex, Vibe, NPR Music, Pitch Fork, VillageVoice, Source, XXL, and many more. The audio clips have been played more than 60K times within 24 hours of posting them. What's I find funny is how some well known blogs like Hypebeast have taken the liberty to re-record and rewrite my post and make it a Kanye thing. lol! That being said, "DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!" This post is not meant to analyze Kanye's freestyle, but more to appreciate good music by talented artist. I strongly urge all music fans to support the Blue Note Jazz club as well as the Blue Note Record label, The Robert Glasper Experiment, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Kanye West, live music, un-signed artist and all links on my page. Enjoy and thank you for visiting

Retna The "Hallelujah" World Tour

Great gallery opening and amazing art, but in all honesty, there were way too many divas lurking around.

Mos Def - The Blue Note, NYC 2/8/11

Robert Glasper
Last night I was fortunate to catch Mos Def do a one night only show at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club. It was interesting to see him play along side one my favorite Blue Note recording artist Robert Glasper. He truly rocked it. Mos sang, read some inspirational quotes,  played the drums, the organ, and spit a few classic hits. Although there was no photography allowed, I managed to snap a few pics of the show. Hopefully this post inspires people to go out and support your local jazz scene.

Freestyle Archityper 2 Opening

 Pop Master Fable

The opening for Freestyle Archityper 2 was off the hook. As always, Mare's sculpture work was literally on POINT. I always say this, but Mare really knows how to put on a show. His art and the crowd he attracts is a recipe for a great night. The energy was pumping through out the the Raw Space Gallery. The break beats were bumpin', breakers were breaking, truly high power original, b-boy traditional, raw bass material. lol This was one of those rare Hip-Hop moments like if it was straight out of Wild Style. What I mean is that it's not everyday you see elements and pioneers of hip hop together under one roof. Specially in this day and age. To name a few, Large Professor, Martha Cooper, Rock Steady Crew, Pop Master Fable, Stretch & Bobbito, FC, TC5, COD members. Everyone was kickin' it, dancing, just having a good time.
Special thanks to the Hip Hop Theater Festival for organizing a great event. Be sure to check out their site (www.hhtf.org), as they have a list of shows celebrating their 10 year anniversary.
